Hi, thanks for this video. I live in the USA. My intralase Lasik surgery is scheduled for 03FEB10. I’m a naval aviator so the military is covering the cost (due to my job) but I was a little apprehensive about it until I watched your video.

They already gave me the “fancy” goggles and medication. I’m supposed to put some drops in the day before the surgery.

No swimming for 30 days and they said don’t let the shower pressure hit my face (eyes).

    Thanks for the video!!!

Hi, thanks for the great video! I went for my consultation today at Optical Express and after all the tests they said I am suitable for Intralase Lasik Wavefront. I have -2 in both eyes and was quoted £3190. Do you know if all the Optical Express stores aware of this 10% off refer a friend discount? As the only thing I can see by looking around is the £300 off vouchers lol.

  5. smiffysmrs says:

As far as I’m aware all the branches do it, I’ve never heard of the £300 vouchers, but its worth asking about the referral system as I think it’ll be worth more to you than just a straight £300 off. If you use my details as your referral you should get 10% off. It doesn’t hurt to ask and it could save you a few quid extra!
Good luck and let me know if you go ahead with xxx

@smiffysmrs – thanks again! 10 hours until my surgery! Getting nervous but you gave me some courage! Thanks again to my youtube friend across the pond!

    God save the queen.

how did you get on warrior? I hope everything went okay.

  8. theroadwarri0r says:

@smiffysmrs – Everything went really well. This morning (the day after surgery) I went in for my first post-op check up. They doctor told me that I had 20/15! Amazing technology is it not? My eyes feel fine, just a little scratchy but nothing too bad at all. LIFE CHANGING. Thanks again for your video! Cheers.

I’m booked in for my laser eye surgery on the 18th! My sister is also getting it done and she managed to get 10% off both of ours for some reason. When you had your Intralase done, you know when they use a laser to cut the flap, could you feel much pressure pushing down on your eyes? Others say this is the worst part!

  10. smiffysmrs says:

Yup that was the worst bit, but it only lasted 22 seconds for each eye so its over very quickly.
Good luck – two weeks on and my vision is superb! My tip is to keep your sunglasses with you at all times for the first week or two, its really helped me. It just lets the eyes relax a bit i think

Had it done today! The surgery went all fine, was over really quick. After the numming drops wore off my eyes were watery, bit sore and my eye lids felt really heavy, was really hard to open my eyes! After about 4 hours I could easily open them but was very light sensitive. Now 8 hours on and after 2-3 hours sleep I’m fine with any light but my vision is still abit cloudy but I can already see alot clearer! It it normal for your vision to be a little cloudy for the first day?

  12. smiffysmrs says:

All sounds perfectly normal to me. My vision was definately cloudy for the first day, things will settle down, just keep on a tight schedule with your drops ( i used the various alarms on my mobile to make sure i never missed a dose ).
My eyes were very lihgt sensitive for about a week and then less so in week two, and now at the end of week three I’m pretty much normal again.

I am now day 6!! Vision in my left eye is still a little blurry at distance but they lasered off a lot of astigmatism!! Weekly check on friday and I’m quite nervous about looking at the charts – hope it’s got better!
This has been the most amazing experience of my life so far, and now I can see I expect many more!!!
If you have doubts just go for it – you’ll see the rewards – literally! and Southampton Optical Express were brilliant and so caring!

  14. smiffysmrs says:

How did your weekly check go?
They were good at Southampton weren’t they – although they do always seem to be running late for my check up appts when I go to the West Quay branch (better to go to the Above Bar one if you can)

  19. smiffysmrs says:

@lellyloo – I look at pictures of myself now and think who is that person! Its so funny how quickly you get used to not wearing glasses. I wish I had the money to do it years ago but hey at least its done now ….. I can walk in the rain with my chin up rather than just staring at the floor – its the little things!!
